#5 Form-to-Database Web Development
Presenter: Gloria W. Jacobs
Audience: unknown
Summary:
Using formencode, web.py templator, cherrypy, and sqlalchemy, I'll give a demonstrable example of how to get data from a form into a database, and out again. We'll take an already functioning example, run it, step through all of the code, then start to customize it. Everyone leaves with a nice functional example in their hands, ready for use on their own web sites.
#15 Teach Me Python
Presenter: David Felix
Audience: beginner
Summary:
It is a Learner-driven class, structured similar to Steve Holden's Teach Me Twisted (as I read about it on Catherine Devlin’s web page, http://catherinedevlin.blogspot.com/2008/03/teach-me-twisted.html
It is intended as a very basic introductory for beginners, but I will need some audience participation, as I am a beginner myself. Intended format is 50 total minutes, with a lot of interaction throughout.
#28 Tutorial: Python, Oracle, and Linux
Presenter: Todd Trichler & Catherine Devlin
Audience: beginner
Summary:
"Easy", "free of charge", and "Python-friendly" may not be phrases that come to mind when you think of Oracle... but times have changed. This tutorial will demonstrate:
- Installing Oracle on Linux
- Using cx_Oracle to manipulate Oracle data from Python
- object-relational libraries: SQLAlchemy and (briefly) Django's ORM
