An entertaining overview of challenges faced and lessons earned during my second and final year working on my first big maker project. With code snippets, diagrams, photos and short demos, discuss problems overcome while developing new features and integrating new devices into my humble animated sign, which now includes color LED lights, new sound and input devices, some machine vision, and some surprises.
Note on Photosensitivity:
Based on this epilepsy.com article, this presentation should be safe for any photosensitive audience member. I will include the following information in a slide at the beginning of the presentation, and give anyone in the audience the chance to leave or ask questions before proceeding.
This project uses consumer LED home lighting products, and while they may in theory be able to cause a problem for a photosensitive person, during this presentation a bulb will not cycle on and off more than 3 times per second. Additionally, any repeating patterns will avoid the use of high-intensity red, and the room’s lighting will not be darkened more than usual for a standard presentation.
